China on alert for approaching a powerful typhoon

Canceled flights

In Taiwan, more than 40,000 homes were deprived of electricity while the typhoon was heading north-east. More than 300 flights to and from Taiwan have been canceled. Some train lines, in Taiwan as in Shanghai, have been interrupted.

According to the Shanghai Daily newspaper, an official publication, about 16,000 people in the suburbs of Shanghai will be evacuated as heavy rain and heavy winds are expected from Friday until Sunday. .

Authorities warned of the risk of floods in the east until Wednesday.
